Toronto, January 18, 2016 – Hurrier, a rapidly expanding Canadian food delivery service, is rebranding to foodora, as of today. foodora, the world’s fastest growing food-delivery platform, acquired Hurrier last year. The rebrand marks the introduction of a new, flat delivery fee of  $3.50, one of the most competitive in the on demand delivery space. A new website and mobile app will also launch later this winter.

foodora acquired Hurrier in July 2015 as part of its global expansion strategy. Hurrier’s restaurant partners, comprised of high-quality city favourites, combined with technology that streamlines and speeds up delivery and its blend of mostly bicycle couriers impressed the European company. The rebrand will signal the launch of even better customer-centric delivery experiences.

“This rebrand is more than just a name. As foodora we’re giving our diners more choice and flexibility by introducing a flat delivery fee in this competitive space,” said David Albert, foodora Canada Managing Director. “Food is at the heart of everything we do. These changes and soon to launch expanded order channels are catering to our clients with a focus on quality local restaurants and expanded ordering options.”

In addition to placing online orders through, a foodora mobile app will launch in March, giving customers more freedom to access their city’s best meals. foodora will maintain Hurrier’s impressive roster of more than 200 restaurant partners and is looking to add more throughout 2016. Toronto favourites the Drake Hotel, Playa Cabana and Fran’s Restaurant are debuting with delivery through foordora in early 2016. 

2015 was a year of dramatic growth and change for the Canadian-built company that included being acquired by foodora and expanding to Montreal. In the last quarter of 2015, orders had increased tenfold while delivery processes and times were streamlined by nearly 40 percent. The Canadian company made a lasting impact on its new parent company and the unique Hurrier algorithm will be integrated into foodora’s operations in its international markets.

How does foodora work

Through the foodora website or via the new iOS and Android apps, customers can enter their postal code and view a curated list of restaurants serving their neighborhood. Once they have found their meal of choice, they can place the order in the comfort of their home or office, paying online through foodora’s secure platform. The order is then carefully prepared by the restaurant, picked up by the foodora logistics team and delivered to their doorstep in around 30 minutes.
